NES Cartridge Cleaning, Quick & Easy

I got a bunch of NES games in today to play on my recently refurbished NES console.

Obviously though, as my NES has been cleaned out i don't want to put 30+ year old cartridges in there without cleaning. Here is my quick and easy procedure for doing so.

NES game bit required to remove the security screws (3.5mm)

Once opened, you can see the PCB and the rather dirty pins ready to spread their filth to your 72 pin connector and cause all sorts of problems with loading.

The quickest and most effective way I have found to clean these is to use a high quality pencil eraser. No chemicals, nothing to melt your PCB just a simple household item.

Nice and clean, the end result (with a clean 72 pin connector) is instant loading without any issues.
