Raspberry Pi 2 Kali Linux Penetration Test Box

Kali Linux has been released for ARM processors so i thought I would give it try on my Raspberry Pi 2 so I can use it as a portable pen test box. I'm curious to know how it performs on the Pi hardware too. Main focus on this is wireless auditing I plan to use the machine remotely over SSH and xRDP and use an Alfa Networks wireless adapter which supports monitor mode.

Here's an overview of my hardware used:

Raspberry Pi 2 900Mhz quad core, 1GB RAM
Samsung EVO 16GB micro SD card
Alfa Networks AWUS036NH long range wireless adaptor
5v 1.5A Pi Hut PSU

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 Kali Linux Penetration Test Box

I've imaged the micro SD card with the kali-2.1.2-rpi2.img file.

Upon first boot i did all the usual updates and also installed tight VNC so i could administer the device remotely.

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get install tightvncserver

I attached the Alfa networks wifi device and it was recognized instantly no drivers to mess with as Kali supports this device out of the box.
