I’ve been given a bunch of Pokemon games to repair from a client. These cartridges have cell batteries in to keep the save games on the carts. As these are 10+ years old now they tend to fail and need replacement.
Lets get to it!
The old cell ready to be removed
Old cell removed
Old solder removed from pads and new solder put in it’s place
New battery fitted, ready to test voltages and ensure the board is getting 3 volts
Slightly different revision board with new battery fitted
Game Boy Advance Pokemon games with new and old batteries
All done with the old batterys sat next to it ready to recycling
