I recently ordered a NYGACN brand joystick to use with MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator).
I went the cheap route as proper sticks are £80+ and I don’t really want to invest that much into one. Naturally though, when going cheap, especially chinese… These things have a habit of dying. It arrived and as soon as i put it in it was cutting out so I investigated…
Upon inspection… absolutely awful soldering and what appeared to be solder bridged between the pads in various spots.
I cleaned this all up.
I also cleaned the other points up even though they didn’t look as bad i still thought it was wise.
I also added fresh solder to all the points on the joystick.
After all this and putting it back together, it worked flawlessly!
